About the Role

Join our growing team at Horizon Foundation and help us diversify our funding to ensure sustainable support for Western Australia's most vulnerable communities. As our Fundraising & Events Assistant, you'll work directly with our Fundraising & Partnerships Manager to execute donor engagement strategies, coordinate fundraising events, and maintain our growing supporter database.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone studying marketing, communications, or events management to gain hands-on experience in the not-for-profit sector. You'll be part of a close-knit team of 5 in our fundraising department, supporting everything from intimate donor cultivation events to our annual gala that brings together 300+ supporters.

With two major grants up for renewal and increasing demand for our services post-pandemic, this role is crucial to our sustainability strategy. You'll see firsthand how individual giving and corporate partnerships can transform lives across metropolitan and regional WA.

Key Responsibilities

Donor Communications & Engagement - Draft and distribute donor newsletters, impact reports, and thank-you communications - Maintain donor records in our Salesforce CRM system, ensuring data accuracy and timely follow-ups - Support stewardship activities including donor recognition programs and cultivation events - Assist with grant application research and proposal writing

Event Coordination & Logistics - Coordinate logistics for 6-8 fundraising events annually, from intimate breakfast briefings to our 300-person annual gala - Manage event registrations, RSVPs, and attendee communications - Liaise with venues, caterers, and suppliers to ensure seamless event delivery - Support on-site event management including setup, registration, and pack-down

Marketing & Communications Support - Create content for social media campaigns promoting fundraising initiatives - Assist with design and distribution of fundraising materials and event collateral - Support digital fundraising campaigns including online appeals and peer-to-peer fundraising - Maintain our fundraising pages and supporter portal on the website

What You'll Bring

Essential Requirements - Currently studying or recent graduate in Marketing, Communications, Events Management, or related field - Strong written communication skills with attention to detail - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) - Basic graphic design skills (Canva or Adobe Creative Suite) - Enthusiasm for community work and social impact - Ability to work independently and as part of a small team

Highly Desirable - Experience with CRM systems (Salesforce experience preferred) - Event coordination or volunteer management experience - Social media management skills - Understanding of fundraising principles and donor stewardship - Full driver's license for occasional travel to regional events
